Summer Fun

We had the privilege of staying at a friend's camp while they were away this month. It overlooks the lake (Ontario), with access to the much calmer Sandy Pond, as well. The boys had a ball rock climbing, swimming, fishing and hunting for neat stones while we were there, and despite being only 10 minutes away from home, we felt like we were truly "away". Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the weekend.

I think the perspective in this one is neat-the 4 of us in this shot are doing something we enjoy-Ben is playing piano, Josh is being goofy, Gracie is watching the boys antics from her stroller and I am trying to capture it all on film...

Gracie has been enjoying her first summer as well. She's becoming quite busy with those little hands though, grabbing fistfuls of grass or sand, and getting them to her little mouth in the blink of an eye. Guess we aren't as quick as we used to be.......

Here she is enjoying one of her first ears of corn.... Ahh, something actually edible for once!
And in other news, just as we were watching the last lacrosse practice wrap-up, the loose tooth that Josh has been working on for a couple of weeks was knocked out by a fellow player. The boys were both thrilled, since they have been sneaking off to different corners of the house for days, trying various techniques for tooth extraction...anxious to see what the tooth fairy would bring...He looks like such a big kid without it!
We also took our annual trek to a local water park to celebrate a friend's birthday. Another first for Gracie, and both the kids and adults had a great time.....Thanks Miss D for some of these awesome shots!
Splashing in the fountain
.....
Sliding with Daddy-I love the scale in this one-she looks so tiny...(oops-don't know what's going on with the font-Blogger will NOT let me shrink it for some reason...)
The boys on a slide break...
Self-portrait on the ferris wheel....

Summer's flying by as usual and Gracie is growing and changing SO quickly...I have a TON more pics to post (still working on quality vs. quantity at this point...) -will attempt to catch up soon...Happy Summer, everyone!

  1. Wow! Looks like an awesome camp. And so close to home. Where is this and are their rental camps there? Looks like a spot we would love escaping to. Sherry

  2. Hi Aunt Sherry! Great idea-this area would be perfect for you to stay and relax while visiting your NY family that wishes they got to see you more often! I will start asking around about rentals. The place that we stayed at was SUPER rustic, and their steps down to the lake were washed away over the winter, so you had to scale some pretty scary rocks to get in the water-no problem at all for the boys, but took me about 15 minutes or so to get my nerve up. They do also have pond access which is very calm and great for fishing, not so much for swimming, and leads right out to the lake. The place is owned by 2 docs that Patrick works with and they are from the area, so they may know of some options...They keep encouraging us to "grab" the next property that comes up near them, but it's not exactly in the budget just yet, plus there are so many places i'd love to show the kids around the country (and abroad) before plunking down money for a second place... I'll let you know what I hear.
